Though initially sceptical about the films nakedness and violence the film's strong character arc and feminist look convinced her to play the role.Butler was in the film as Jennifer Hills a novelist who has been brutally raped by gangs while living in a cabin the woods. Her character will then take revenge on her rapists. The film, produced by Steven R. Monroe was released in October 2010. In November 2011, Butler and Estella Warren began shooting the thriller based on psychological research The Stranger Within in Mallorca in Spain. The plan was to shoot at Copenhagen Denmark, New York City in addition. Butler made an appearance on screen in The Demented, a 2013 horror movie with Michael Welch, Kayla Ewell and Michael Welch.
